The Da Vinci Bridge and Arch kit provides an opportunity to
learn about the concepts and forces which are integral to
the success of ‘structures spanning spaces’, i.e., bridges.
For centuries, people have made use of bridges to span
physical obstacles, such as bodies of water, valleys, roads
and rails, using different materials, including wood, stone
and steel. This kit builds two different bridges: The Da Vinci
bridge; a parabolic arch bridge designed by Da Vinci in 1502,
and a concrete arch bridge which relies on its abutments
and central keystone for its strength.
