IN THIS KIT:
The Forces kit is a comprehensive model that can be used to teach students about all the different types of contact forces, including Friction (static and kinetic), Tension, Compression and Normal Force, as well as Gravitational Force. Using an inclined slope (double-sided, with increased friction on one side), springs, pulleys, strings and a weighted box, the students can experiment with different setups to see how their weighted box will respond in different situations, as well as understanding the difference between potential and kinetic energy based on the position of their box on the slope, and the changing angle of the slope.
Once the model is built, it can also be used as a permanent teaching aid, e.g. simple experiments/demonstrations in class. For more visual learners, this kit is particularly helpful in observing all the forces at play in problems that involve inclined slopes and pulleys, a large part of higher grade exercises on Forces.
